• Mahjong 101: This is an introductory class to understand the basics of American Mahjong. Learn about the tiles, the NMJL card, how to deal, the Charleston, game play and more.

    Mahjong 102: You understand the 101 basics. During 102 we do a quick review then dive into game play. I guide you every step of the way to ensure you are confident playing.

    Guided Open Play: Practice makes perfect! You’ve completed Mahj 101 & 102 and now you want to practice your skills and level up your game. I provide guidance and strategy tips.

  • I recommend all beginners take two lessons, Mahjong 101 and 102.

    The first lesson focuses on understanding the game and the second lesson focuses on guided play.

  • Lessons are 2.5 hours.

  • I provide all the necessary Mahjong equipment including mats, racks, tiles, and NMJL cards.

    For private lessons, card tables and Furbish Studio linens are available upon request. I ask that hosts provide the chairs.

  • Absolutely! I require a minimum of 8 guests or $500 value for private lessons.

  • There is a $50 travel fee for lessons and events outside Beltway 8.

  • For individual lessons, payment is due at the time of booking.

    For private lessons and events, a $200 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking and full payment is due 48-hours prior to the event.

  • For individual lessons, you may reschedule 48-hours in advance without incurring any penalty fees.

    For private group lessons and events, the $200 deposit is non-refundable. You may cancel 7 days in advance without incurring any additional penalty fees. Cancellations received after the 7-day window require full payment.
